Welcome to the Asheville Art Museum’s Web site
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the staff of the Asheville Art Museum, welcome to the Museum Web site. First launched in 2007, the site has allowed us to deepen our connection to a truly global community of followers by providing timely, relevant Museum news and arts information linked to our unique collections, exciting special exhibitions and diverse array of educational programs and events. Organized in 1948, the Asheville Art Museum is Western North Carolina's premier visual arts institution and its collections a unique resource in the city and the region. The Museum's programs engage diverse audiences of all ages in active exploration of themselves - their past and future - and their communities, through interpretation of American art since the beginning of the 20th century. Committed to being a vital force in the community and individual development, the Museum's focus is on lifelong learning through the visual arts for all audiences from pre-school children to senior citizens. Ever mindful of our commitment to lifelong learning through the visual arts, we continue to evolve and enhance the dynamic features of the Web site over time, providing in-depth and interactive content and tools that allow Museum visitors like you to better access, explore and experience all of the rich programming and information that the Museum has to offer—from the comfort of your home or workplace. Whether a Museum member, a longtime Asheville resident or a visitor to the area, we welcome you to explore our ever-growing permanent collection through the online collections database. The Web site also features interactive tools, making it simple to register for educational programs, subscribe to our e-newsletter and follow our many social media channels. Finally, you will find many options to support the Museum including online tools for making purchases in the virtual Museum Store, registering to become a Museum Member or making a donation to the Museum. We hope you will continue to use our site to plan your visit to the Museum and to stay engaged in our exhibitions, programs, events and news. We look forward to seeing you in the Museum! --Pamela L. Myers, Executive Director Web site development in 2006/2007 supported in part by Ray Griffin and Thom Robinson.
