After-School Art Class: Be Creative

Volunteer Docents Needed

Leading group tours as a docent is a rewarding and wonderful way to share your love of art with students, children and adults. The Education staff provides ongoing docent trainings, which include exclusive previews of new exhibitions and behind the scenes discussions with Museum curators and special guests. We welcome new docents throughout the year. For more information, contact Nancy Sokolove at 828.253.3227, ext. 120, or nsokolove@ashevilleart.org. The only pre-requisite is an enthusiasm for art!

ASHEVILLE, NC — The Asheville Art Museum, with generous support from MetLife Foundation and a partnership with the Buncombe County Public Libraries, is proud to announce the creation of the smArt speak: Distinguished Artist Series which will bring Christo and Jeanne-Claude, the Guerrilla Girls, Faith Ringgold and Art Spiegelman to Asheville.

Summer Art Camp enrollment

ASHEVILLE — Arts education does not have to go on summer hiatus. The Asheville Art Museum is offering Summer Art Camps to rising kindergarten through 12th grade students June 9 — August 1, 2008. Enrollment is limited and pre-registration is required.

shop “I moved to England at an early age and grew up surrounded by the history, beauty and art of the U.K. After working in many media I fell in love with jewelry making and a jeweler! We had our own business in Camden Lock in London prior to moving back to the U.S.

I have been making jewelry for over 20 years. The natural beauty, color and healing properties of stones inspire me. My jewelry is silver with precious and semi precious stones.

FANATICON!

On May 15, 2010, the Asheville Art Museum will be bustling with activity as we promote a new kind of visual art, one in which the fans are ravenous and the art is graphic. The Asheville Art Museum and Pop Culture collide during Fanaticon, a celebration of comic book culture and fans!

Two exhibitions showcasing the Museum's permanent collection are now open!

Looking Forward: New Works and New Directions for the Permanent Collection showcases 60 works in the Asheville Art Museum's Permanent Collection. Partnered with the Museum's current exhibition Looking Back: Celebrating 60 Years of Collecting at the Asheville Art Museum, these exhibitions celebrate the growth of the Museum's collection as it celebrates its 60th year. While Looking Back showcases themes within the collection, Looking Forward highlights areas of focus and future growth for the collection. These two exhibitions honor the Asheville community that has helped the Museum to thrive for over 60 years.
