Alice Dalton Brown
Alice Dalton Brown (1939- ) was born in Danville, PA. She depicts realistic landscapes using oils on canvas, and on occasion, pastels on paper. Her relaxed scenes transport the viewer into a calmer, more relaxed place. Light is the heart and spirit of Dalton Brown's work - how it falls on an object or plane, its shadows and its reflections as they bounce off surfaces. Her work is inspired by the likes of Dennis Hopper and Josef Albers. She starts with photographs or sketches of the scene and assembles them as a whole. As she paints, she makes substantive changes on her subject.
