Bart Kasten is primarily a photographer whose intrigue with the co-existence of opposites (such as man and nature and order and chaos) is reflected in his work. He tends to incorporate natural and manmade environments into his images. Kasten's fascination with multiple exposure and its complexities and subtleties is often apparent in his photographs. He has taught and lectured at various institutions in the south east, including Florida State University, the University of Alabama, and the University of Florida. He was a Resident at Penland School of Crafts from 1989 to 1992. He has participated in numerousl exhibitions. He was awarded a Southern Arts Federation/National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in photography for 1991. Bart currently lives, works and teaches in Atlanta, GA.
