Francisco Sainz (1913-10/20/1998) was born in Spain. Known as an Abstract Expressionist painter, his work often included figures dressed in the garb of his native Spain. Sainz, who was known as Paco, died in East Hampton on Oct 20 after suffering a heart attack.The painter, who fought in the Spanish Civil War as a teenager,moved to New York after World War II. He socialised with the New York school painters, including Willem de Kooning, Lester Johnson and Alfred Leslie.
