Larry Tucker (1947 - ) was born in North Carolina and was trained as a biologist. Tucker said, "I have always had a certain fascination with the natural world and have been photographing nature since I was a senior at Mars Hill College in 1969-70. I am especially interested in recording the tremendous diversity of color and form in nature and up until this time (1975) have specialized in photographing the Appalachian Wilderness." Larry Tucker had a solo exhibition of his photography at the Asheville Art Museum in 1980.
