Paul Russotto (1941- ) studied at the Art Students League in New York. He has taught painting and drawing at Parsons School of Design MFA painting program, the New York Studio School, The Albany Institute of Art and the International School of Art in Umbria, Italy . He is known for his paintings and drawings that examine the subject of time and the vacillations between the abstract and the figurative. His subtle over painting creates dense textures which often seem to be clearly aware of the historical range of abstraction and the way it brushed up against figuration, from the cave paintings through contemporary paintings.. He has participated in group and invitational exhibitions in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Barcelona and Hong Kong. His work is in the corporate collections of the Novartis Corp, General Electric, A.P. Fritz in Zurich, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Brooklyn Museum.
