Robert Brackman (1898-1980) was born in Odessa, Russia. After immigrating from Russia in 1908, he worked in New York City and lived in Noank, Connecticut. He was known for his figures, still lives and portraits. His work shows the integration of technical and imaginative skills. Brackman studied with Robert Henri. For many years he taught painting to students at the Art Students League, including Mary Clark.
