Rose Naftulin (1925- ) was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She started taking art classes at age ten. She paints improvisational still lifes and landscapes, and is best known for a series of paintings that depict Monet's garden and lily pond in Giverny, France. She tries to capture the emotions she felt when she first encountered her subject within her work. She seeks to create a color field of warm and cool tones that form a structural balance.
