Vernon Brejcha (1942- ) was born in Ellsworth, Kansas. His family was tenant farmers. He says that he never used a telephone or had a bath in a tub with running water until he went to college at Ft. Hayes University, Kansas State University and The University of Wisconsin. Brejcha's work is very personal; the subject matter comes from his childhood on the farm, nature, and the history of Kansas. Brejcha's work is in the collection of over thirty museums world wide including the Smithsonian Institution; the Glasmuseum, Frauenau, Germany; Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, NY, and the Sasaki Crystal Museu, Tokyo, Japan. His works have been exhibited in the International Exhibition of Glass, Kanazawa, Japan; Marx Gallery, Chicago, IL; Frittes Internationalees Glas, Glasmuseum, Frauenau, Germany, and Heller Gallery, New York City. He has had teaching assignments at The University of Kansas, The Hinckley School of Crafts and The Penland School of Crafts.
