William Pettet (1942- ) was born in Whittier, California. In the late 1960s, he created his first Lyrical Abstractions. He painted on a large scale, often working on unstretched canvas on the floor and the wall, using spray guns and air compressors to vary the surfaces of his pictures. His paintings are large, lyrical, free spirited, and Monet-like.
