W. Medford Johnston

W. Medford Johnston (1941- ) was born in Decatur, Georgia. He is known for producing two-dimensional images that are derived from three dimensional forms. He also has experience with graphic design. In 1965 he earned an A.B. from Georgia State University, and in 1967 he received an M.F.A. from Florida State University. Johnston taught at Georgia State University in the late 1970s. He exhibited extensively in the 1960s and 1970s in Georgia, Florida, New York, Tennessee, Texas, Arkansas, and North Carolina. In January 1999, his work was shown at the Sandler Hudson Gallery in Atlanta. His works are in the permanent collections of several institutions, including Georgia State University, Florida State University, the High Museum of Art, Trinity University (TX), and the Mint Museum of Art.
