Art of Watching Film Series – Day 1« Back to Events
JANUARY 10 – Friday from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Cherry Lentz Saenger, former chair of the Women’s Studies Program and film professor at Mars Hill University, will lead a three-part series on the Art of Watching Films. This educational series encourages participants to look at film as an art form. We will analyze cinematic elements such as themes, characters, story, color, light and sound in contemporary narrative films, and help viewers discover complex aspects of the art of film that might otherwise go unnoticed.
The series continues on January 17 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and will wrap up on January 24 from 5:00-7:30 p.m. with a viewing of the film Séraphine, the true story of female artist Séraphine de Senlis. After the film, Saenger will lead a discussion on the role of women in art and society at the turn of the 20th century.
