MARCH 13
Villa America: A Novel by Liza Klaussmann

Newlyweds Sara and Gerald set forth to create a beautiful world together outside the confines of society life in New York City. In the south of France, they immediately fall in with a group of expatriates including Ernest Hemingway, Pablo Picasso, and Zelda & Scott Fitzgerald. At their home Villa America, they invent a fragrant paradise for bohemian artists and writers who became deeply entwined in each other’s affairs, enjoy flamboyant beach parties, and engage in fiery debates over the newest ideas. When a tragic accident brings a young American aviator to Villa America, the circle finds their world irrevocably and unexpectedly transformed. In this dazzling novel, based on the real-life inspirations for F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Tender is The Night, Klaussman expertly evokes the 1920s cultural scene of the so-called “Lost Generation.” Moderated by Kristina Aaronson.

Planned in conjunction with Celebrate Zelda! 2018.
