Meet at The Block Off Biltmore (39 S. Market Street, Asheville 28801)

The Asheville Art Museum presents a panel discussion between Cleo Barnett, curator of Hear Our Voice and Program Director at The Amplifier Foundation; Dr. Marie-Line Germain, Associate Professor of Human Resources and Leadership at WCU and organizer of the Women’s March on Asheville; Marie Cochran, Director of the Affrilachian Artist Project; and Clarissa Sligh, a multimedia artist whose work addresses topics such as race, identity, gender, and the African-American diaspora. The panel will explore the ability of art to empower artists and viewers, how art has been key to social justice movements in the United States, and how individuals can use art to engage in activism.

Planned in conjunction with Hear Our Voice, in partnership with The Block Off Biltmore.
