3:00 p.m. Gallery Talk with Dr. Leisa Rundquist, followed by an Opening Reception
Guest curator, Dr. Leisa Rundquist is an Associate Professor at UNC Asheville where she specializes in modern and contemporary art and theory. Her research is primarily concerned with the intersections of childhood, religious piety, gender and race in the art of Henry Darger. Rundquist was invited to give The McLeod and Mildred Riggins Lecture at UNC Chapel Hill (2011) and has also presented papers on Darger’s work at the College Art Association Conference (2011), Intuit: The Society of Intuitive and Outsider Art, Chicago (2010), Coastal Carolina University (2009), the Southeastern College Art Conference (2012, 2007) and UNC Asheville Queer Studies Conference (2013).
