Gallery Talk with Christiane Citron + Opening Reception
North Wing | Appleby Memorial Foundation Gallery
During this First Friday, we are pleased to have Christiane Citron, granddaughter and scholar of artist Minna Citron, give a gallery talk about the work and career of her grandmother for the opening of Minna Citron: The Uncharted Course from Realism to Abstraction. The exhibition itself was drawn from Christiane’s personal collection, and she is the Art Executor for the Estate of Minna Citron. Christiane started acting as Agent for her grandmother when she was attending law school at New York University, after graduating from Yale College in the first class of women. She was thrilled to travel to Paris with her grandmother Minna, and later enjoyed making a pilgrimage to Tennessee to see the post office murals that the artist had painted in the 1930s. Christiane has worked as an education lawyer and in non-profit administration. Throughout her career, she has been heavily involved with arts and historic preservation.
An opening reception for both Minna Citron: The Uncharted Course from Realism to Abstraction and Farm to Table: American Silver will follow the talk until 8:00 p.m.
