In this four-part writing workshop, explore the influence that the visual arts have on emotions, memories, and stories. Each week focuses on a different type of artwork in the Museum’s collection or special exhibitions, both as a point of meditation and inspiration for discussion and written responses. This workshop is an outlet for writers of all levels to broaden familiarity with artistic and written genres, spark creativity in surprising places, develop and hone writing skills, and receive valuable feedback.

Stefanie Wielkopolan is a writer who loves to explore the influence of place on her writing. She has taught writers of all ages at colleges and universities, for nonprofits, and independently. She holds an MFA in creative writing from Chatham University, an MA in liberal studies from the University of Michigan, and a BA in creative writing and women’s studies from Western Michigan University. Her first collection of poetry, Border Theory, was published by Black Coffee Press in 2011.
