The Asheville Art Museum is the regional host of the annual Scholastic Art juried competition for students in grades 7-12 from all across WNC. The regional program is supported by the Museum’s volunteer docents, the Asheville Area Section of the American Institute of Architects and Base Camp AVL. A selection of artwork receiving regional awards will be on view in the Museum on the Slope from January 27 – March 4, 2018. Regional Gold Key recipients’ work will be sent to the National Scholastic Art competition in New York City. For more information on the Scholastic Art Awards, visit www.artandwriting.org.
All regional award recipients will be honored at a ceremony on Sunday, February 25 at 1:30 p.m. in the Diana Wortham Theatre, followed by a reception at the Asheville Art Museum On the Slope at 175 Biltmore Ave.
Groups of 10 to 20 students or adults are invited to schedule a visit to The WNC Regional Scholastic Art Award exhibition. Our inquiry-based group visits, led by volunteer docents or Museum staff, challenge visitors to hone their observation skills.View selected works in the exhibition »
