Family Day

Seasonal Family Days are offered 2 to 3 times a year in conjunction with the Museum's exhibitions. Activities usually include guided exhibition tours, a hands-on studio project for children and adults and refreshments.

Saturday, April 19, Family Art pARTy, 2:00 p.m.

Come celebrate Earth Day with hands-on activities and refreshments ongoing through the afternoon. This program is provided through the generous support of Mr. & Mrs. Robert J. Deutsch.




Previous Family Days:

Celebrate Earth Day with Family Art Party - Sean Pace, sculptor and performance artist, showcased his sculpture Jinx in Pack Square as participants learned how to blow paint.  IlaSahai Prouty and Lisa Jones led hands-on projects in the Museum's bright and spacious studio. All materials for this project were supplied, and participants enjoyed light refreshments following their creative endeavors.

Fall Family Day with Artist Dusty Benedict - Dusty Benedict, head of the Art Department at Warren Wilson College, led a gallery discussion of his work featured in Benedict + Cooke: Looking In - Looking Out, and was followed by a hands-on project in the Museum's bright and spacious studio.

Fall Family Day with Sunprint Photography - The Asheville Art Museum hosted a Fall Family Day for all ages to  celebrate the last week of Classic Images: From the Ansel Adams Archive. It included a hands on photographic activittwer of the sun to make lasting impressions on photographic paper, are a great way to discover some of the basics behind photography and are fun for all ages.
