Breeze Hill Series
Richard Karwoski (11/03/1938- ) was born in Brooklyn, New York. A painter and sculptor, he has participated in over forty solo exhibitions and over five hundred group exhibitions. He is best known for his depictions of shoes, a symbol he began to work with in 1972 to represent the marks made on the world and on history by mankind. Later work shows footprints, peppers, and flowers. He primarily works in watercolor and also uses oil. He has won numerous awards in recent years, and is a member of The Society of American Graphic Artists, the National Art Club, and many others. Karwoski has taught drawing, design, painting, and printmaking since 1969. His work is included in many public and private collections such as the Newark Museum, the Butler Institute, Pratt Institute, AT&T, and Chase Manhattan.
