Derek Southall (1930- ) was born in Coventry, England. He studied at the Coventry School of Art, Camberwell School of Art and Goldsmith's College, University of London. Southall was an artist in residence at the University of South Carolina and Yale University between 1972-75. He had an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, Oxford, England, 1968; Columbus Museum, Columbus, GA, 1974; Andre Emmerich Gallery, New York City, 1976; and Nicola Jacobs Gallery, London, England, 1982. His work is in the permanent collection of The Tate Gallery; NYU, New York City; Museum of Modern Art, Oxford, England and the Yale Center for British Art, New Haven, CT.
