Evening Approaches

Paula Stark

Paula Stark (1956- ) received her BFA in Painting from the University of New Hampshire and her MFA in Painting from Parson School of Design. Although a realist, it has been said that she learned the lessons of Abstract Expressionism well. She paints landscapes and seascapes without people. Her works project a strong feeling for farmland, water, and the light of the Northern Sky. She uses landscape painting to evoke emotion and to set a mood rather than to accurately document a scene. Her works have been shown in multiple one and two person exhibitions and she has received numerous awards including the Helena Rubenstein Foundation Scholarship and the CPG International Award.
