Farm Near Newfound
Dottie Goodman (09/20/1926-08/22/2001) is primarily a landscape painter who works both in acrylic and collage. Of the painting, "Farm Near Newfound," she wrote: "I worked in fairly thin acrylic washes. This medium, I find, allows me great freedom of expression. It dries rapidly, allowing me to make changes and adjustments almost immediately - before the 'inspiration' is gone." Goodman has studied with a number of teachers, including Gordon Mahy, Lois Tracy, Jos Vandermeer, and Frederick Witton. Her work has been exhibited in North and South Carolina, and throughout the Southeast. The artist lived in Leicester, North Carolina, where the rural landscape has inspired many of her paintings.
