Barbara Norfleet (1926- ) received her BA in Psychology from Swarthmore College and her Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Harvard. She taught at Harvard with the Social Psychologist, David Reisman. She took a class in photography and this led to a multi-faceted career: Documentar Photographer, Teacher of Photography and Social Description, Founder and Director of Harvard's Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts. As a documentary photographer she has produced works such as All the Right People. (1986) The Illusion of Orderly Progress (1999) and When We all Liked Ike: Looking for Post War America(2000). Although she retired in 1997 from her position at Harvard, she still serves as Curator of the Harvard Photography Collection.
