Harry Shokler (1896-1978) was a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. He studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy and at the School of Fine Art in New York. Brilliant student work secured him a traveling scholarship which took him to France and Tunisia. After several years he returned to the States where he had a succession of one-man exhibits of his paintings at Grand Central Galleries in New York, at the Baltimore Museum and in Cincinnati. His work was included in exhibits of the National Colony for several summers.
