Arthur Bradburn (1925-1998) was born in Marion, North Carolina. He worked as a electrician for American Ecusta in Pisgah Forest, NC for 37 years. While at Ecusta, Bradburn and his co-workers often made unusual shapes with electrical parts for fun. He made his first robot lamp for his wife, Faye, in 1975. Since then he has made around sixteen more lamps and sculptures in a twenty year period. Bradburn's robots are often made of square and circular outlet boxes, unions, connectors, and access boxes. The sculptures also contain plastic pipes and lights. His work is in the permanent collection of the Asheville Art Museum and has been presented in the Brunk Auction Services Inc. Book May We All Remember Well.
