Yoav Greenberg (1965- ) was born in Tel Aviv, Israel. His father was an engineer and his mother was an artist. Greenberg moved to the U.S. in 1988 to study industrial design after completing his military service in Israel. He became interested in glass while studying at Pratt, and soon began studying at the New York Experimental Glass Workshop. Greenberg was invited to be the Glass Program Coordinator at Penland School of Craft in North Carolina for a year, and thus was exposed to the vast heritage of North Carolina glass. He built a studio in Green Mountain, NC in 1994. For the next two years, Greenberg concentrated on combining art with function. His work is influenced by his appreciation for the important impact of everyday items on people's realities.
