Merry Moor Winnett

Merry Moor Winnett (1951-1994) was a mixed media photograher who originally went to art school for painting, drawing and ceramics. She was educated at Michigan State University and the University of South Florida in Tampa. Much of her photographic work was hand painted and drawn upon and imparted a surrealistic quality. She was a photography instructor at Guilford College in Greensboro and the Sawtooth Center in Winston -Salem, North Carolina. Her work is in the Chyrsler Museum, Norfolk, Virginia; the collection of the University of South Florida and New York's Floating Foundation of Photography. The city of Winston-Salem and the Sawtooth Center honored Winnett with "The Artist of the Year Award" in 1995.
