The Corruption of Ecstasy
Robert Yarber (1948- ) was born in Dallas, Texas, and is currently the Distinguished Professor of Art at Pennsylvania State University. Yarber received a BFA from Cooper Union in 1971 and an MFA from Louisiana State University in 1973. Yarber is represented by the Sonnabend Gallery in New York. In 2007, he had a solo exhibition at Kyungpook National University Art Museum in Daegu, Korea. Interesting fact: The "very hallucinatory" neon color palette Yarber utilizes for his pieces inspired Nicola Pecorini, the cinematographer for "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", during the production of the film. In addition to bright colors, Yarber's incorporation of falling figures set against city landscapes makes his works easily recognizable.
