Iona Fromboluti (1953- ) was born in New York City. The daughter of artists Sideo Fromboluti and his wife Nora. Her work is mainly still lifes, although she tends to paint "beyond the object". There is a bit of surrealistic element to her work. The artist comments about her famous parents "My parents have a sense of very heavy surface. They come out of abstract expressionism. I don't, but I'm moving toward surface, though I'm moving more toward tactility. I do like seeing the brushstroke. I love the paint. I'm not afraid of decoration. It's an awareness of paint."
