Moy Glidden (1916- ) was born in Philadelphia. Beginning in the 1950s she concentrated on working in an Abstract Expressionist style. Her paintings, done on canvas and paper, incorporate a radiance of color and light. They reflect the world around her; it is not uncommon to see aspects of nature such as trees or flowers in her work. Her works have been exhibited at the Philadelphia Art Alliance (1938); Chapel Gallery, West Newton, MA (1980); the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (1987), and in 1988 at the Mangel Gallery in Philadelphia with Quita Brodhead and Jane Piper. Glidden's paintings are in the permanent collection of Bryn Mawr College (PA), the Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute (NY), the State Museum of Pennsylvania, the Woodmere Art Museum (PA), and the Asheville Art Museum.
