Harry LeRoy Taskey (1892-1958) was born in Rockford, Indiana. He studied at the Art Students League in New York and at the Grande Chaumiere in Paris. He also studied under several individuals: John Sloan, Robert Henri, George Brandt Bridgman, Gustav William Von Schlegell, Hayley Lever, Homer Boss, Boardman Robinson and Harry Sternberg. A member of the American Veteran Society of Artists in Philadelphia, Taskey has exhibited his work across the United States and abroad. His works are in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Syracuse Museum, the Montgomery Museum of Fine Art and the New York Public Library. Taskey was known as an illustrator, block printer and teacher.
