Registration underway for high school after school arts programs

ASHEVILLE, NCApplications are being accepted for after school drawing classes for high school students which will be held at the Asheville Art Museum Thursday afternoons in two six-week sessions February 14 - March 20 and April 10 - May 15, 2008.

In the classes, students will learn a variety of drawing techniques while experimenting with charcoal, pastel, pencil, pen and ink. Students will tour Museum exhibitions, visit local galleries and meet working artists before creating a final project in the medium of their choice.

The program is open to students who are new to art classes and materials, as well as those who are hoping to compile an art portfolio.

WHEN:  
   Thursdays from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m.   

Two sessions: February 14 – March 20
and April 10- May 15

WHERE:   Classes will be held in the studio of the   Asheville Art Museum at 2 South Pack Square in downtown Asheville.

COST:     Each six week course costs $60. All supplies are provided by the Museum.

WHO:  
     Area high school students in ninth through twelth grades are invited to apply. There is no need for previous art experience and beginners are welcome. Financial aid is available by calling 828.253.3227, ext. 121 and requesting an application form.

HOW TO APPLY:     Pre-registration is required. Download the form and return all application            materials with payment by mail, fax or email by February 8.
