Friday, February 22 – Sunday, March 09, 2008
Pack Place Community Gallery
An Environmental Poster Session organized by the Asheville Art Museum will be on
view
through
Sunday, March 9, 2008.
The posters use narratives and photographs or illustrations to explain to
viewers the
mission
and work of each environmental group.
The Museum invited local and regional environmental conservation organizations
including the Canary Coalition Dogwood Alliance, RiverLink and the Western
North
Carolina Alliance to participate.
“This poster session will help visitors to the Museum and Pack Place see the
connection
between what local non-profits are doing here in our area and the
more global thinking
that is reflected in the exhibition Time Is of the Essence:
Contemporary Landscape
Art ,” said Asheville Art Museum Adult Programs
Manager Nancy Sokolove. “I hope this
cross-disciplinary dialogue among
arts and environmental
groups contributes to our
region’s growing awareness of what is at stake
environmentally, how artists visualize
this and what the average citizen can do
to help in ways both large and small.”
The posters will be on continuous view with verbal presentations from
representatives at
various times to be announced at a later date.
Pack Place Community Gallery is located to the right of the main Pack Place entrance
near
the intersection of Patton and Biltmore avenues in downtown Asheville.
Held in conjunction with the
exhibition Time is of the Essence:
Contemporary
Landscape Art.
