Lasting Gifts IV: Recent Acquisitions to the Permanent Collection

2006.17.33

October 12, 2007 January 13, 2008

Holden Community Gallery

This exhibition celebrates some of the important additions to the Asheville Art Museum’s Permanent Collection of American art of the 20th and 21st centuries. The work in this exhibition includes Museum purchases, purchases by the Museum’s Collectors’ Circle, gifts and bequests that have been received during the past two and a half years.

Lasting Gifts IV focuses on various approaches to abstraction and includes paintings by Ivan Chermayeff, Douglas Ellington and Jimmie Lee Sudduth; collages, drawings and prints by Dwinnell Grant, Medrie MacPhee and Stephen Talasnik.  The exhibition will also include three-dimensional works by Georgia Blizzard, Mark Peiser and Kenneth Snelson.

The Museum organizes Lasting Gifts exhibitions periodically to highlight acquisitions to the collection and to recognize donors and supporters who help the Museum develop and expand its permanent collection.

Opening Reception: Sunday, October 14, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
