trunkshow01

The Museum Shop is happy to feature jewelry designer Gayle Ray as the October Artist-of-the-Month. Gayle’s jewelry is created with an eye to unique color and texture combinations. Semi precious stones, sterling silver, soft flex wire and blessings are combined to create unique pieces with the intention of bringing peace and harmony to those that experience it.
For more information on the many more items available at the Museum Shop, please contact Erika McClintock or Laila Boggs at 828.253.3227 ext. 110.

The Asheville Art Museum, with the assistance of its volunteer docents, partners with the Asheville Area Section of the American Institute of Architects annually to sponsor the Western North Carolina Regional Scholastic Art Awards. The WNC Regional Art competition takes place at the Museum each January and is open to students in Grades 7-12.

Independent judges select work for a local exhibition and artwork receiving Gold Key awards are then sent to New York to compete in the National Scholastic Art competition. The 2011 Western North Carolina Regional Scholastic Award recipients were honored at a ceremony this February and an exhibition of their artwork was on view through March of this year.

The 2012 Scholastic Art Awards kick off next January. The Museum will accept artwork submissions from Tuesday, January 10th - Thursday, January 12th. Please call 828.253.3227 ext. 122 for times and additional submission guidelines and details. The Scholastic Art Awards exhibition will open in the Pack Place Community Gallery on Friday, January 20th. The 2012 Scholastic Art Awards Ceremony will take place in the Diana Wortham Theatre on Sunday, February 5, 2011. More details forthcoming.

To receive entry materials contact the School and Family Programs Manager at (828) 253-3227 ext. 121.
