Student & Teacher Programs

The Asheville Art Museum invites students and teachers to investigate the important role that art plays in life and learning through its Student and Teacher programs. Teachers - get on our mailing list and be the first to find out about all of the Museum's exciting education programs including teacher workshops, art camps, artist lectures and more! Contact the Education Department at (828) 253-3227 ext. 121 or 122. 




Group Tours
Groups of all ages can reserve a visit to the Museum for guided or self-guided tours.

High School After School Arts Programs
High school students can learn a variety of drawing techniques while experimenting with charcoal, pastel, pencil, pen and ink in addtion to touring Museum exhibitions, visiting local galleries and meeting artists working in the area before creating a final project in the medium of their choice.

Homeschool
A monthly program developed especially for homeschool parents and children.

Literacy Through Art
A school outreach program for Western North Carolina counties in which the visual arts are utilized to explore the language arts.

More Than Math
A program that integrates the visual arts into the 3rd- 8th grade mathematics curriculum using works of art from the collection of the Asheville Art Museum.

Scholastic Art Awards
Annual 7th-12th grade art competition sponsored by the Asheville Art Museum and the Asheville Area Section of the American Institute of Architects.

Teacher Resource Center
A resource center for teachers with a wide range of materials about art, art history and art techniques.
