Venue Rental

Thank you for your interest in holding your special event at the Asheville Art Museum! The 54,000-square-foot structure is located in Pack Square – the heart of beautiful downtown Asheville. Guests will enjoy stunning cityscape views, incredible architecture, and breathtaking works of art. The Museum’s Atrium, Café, Terrace, studios, classrooms, and Multipurpose space offer several options for lectures, screenings, presentations, discussions, programs, workshops, cocktail parties, luncheons, weddings, birthday parties and more.

Rental Rules & Guidelines

Alcohol: All alcohol must be purchased through the Asheville Art Museum. No exceptions will be made.

Cleaning: The Asheville Art Museum requires all Event Venues used to be returned to their normal condition as received upon the Start Time of the Event Rental. The Asheville Art Museum will provide basic janitorial service for the Museum during the Event, which will include bathroom maintenance, replacement of trash can liners, and the clean-up of minor spills and messes. This is not a substitute for the cleanup required by Client, Event Planner, and Vendors. Required cleaning duties are outlined in Vendor Agreements.

Art Displayed and Exhibitions: The Asheville Art Museum presents a robust schedule of engaging exhibitions featuring American art of the 20th and 21st centuries. Exhibitions routinely change, sometimes unexpectedly. Specific exhibitions or works are not guaranteed to be displayed for any Event. No changes to exhibitions will be made for an Event.

Approved Vendors: The Asheville Art Museum provides an Approved Vendor list. All Vendors will be selected from this list unless written exceptions are granted by the Asheville Art Museum. All Vendors and Clients will sign The Asheville Art Museum Vendor Agreements and understand fully the requirements at the Asheville Art Museum.

Parking: Parking is available on the street or in private parking garages near the Asheville Art Museum. Venue Manager can assist Client in securing Valet services if desired at additional cost to Client. Client should inform Client’s Guests and Vendors of parking arrangements.

Entertainment: Music shall always be modest in volume. All music and amplification must end no later than 12:00 AM.

Décor: The Asheville Art Museum will approve all decorations per the Décor Agreement, no exceptions. Event Venues may not be modified in anyway. Client may not affix any article, drill holes, use nails, screws, or staples in ceilings, floors, woodwork, and doors in the Asheville Art Museum. Nails, duct tape, glue, staples, etc. is strictly prohibited. No confetti, streamers, balloons, glitter, petals, fog machines or live flame are allowed under any circumstances.

Contingency Plans: The Asheville Art Museum is not responsible for the weather or Acts of God as it may affect any Event held on AAM property. Any Event planned for outdoors is done so at the Client’s own risk.

Photography Release: Client agrees to allow Asheville Art Museum staff to take photographs of the Event including Décor, Vendors, and Guests, to allow the Event photographer to share Event images with the Asheville Art Museum, and to use these photographs for promotional purposes with recognition of said photographer credited and with the understanding that the Client will not profit from them in any way. Client must inform Guests and Vendors that their attendance includes permission to use their images in such materials.

Vaping/Smoking: Vaping and smoking is not permitted in the Museum or on the Rooftop. If the Fire Department is called due to the activation of smoke alarms, the client will be responsible for the Fire Department fees charged to the Museum.

Fundraising Events: The Museum does not permit fundraising events on premises. This includes silent and live auctions, sponsored events, and raffles.

Photography Policy

PROFESSIONAL OR COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY, VIDEOGRAPHY, AND FILMING (DEFINED AS ANY USE OUTSIDE OF PERSONAL)

  • Photography of a non-personal nature (e.g. advertisements) or portrait, bridal, or other personal-event photography are not allowed without written permission of the Museum.
  • Please complete our request for professional or commercial photography form at least one month in advance of your desired visit. Professional or commercial photography will be approved on a case-by-case basis and may incur fees for use of facilities and staff time.
  • The Museum reserves the right to deny permission to photograph on its premises. Unauthorized reproduction is an infringement of United States copyright law.
