John Robinson Tait

John R. Tait (1934-1909) was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He studied under Weber in Dusseldorf, and he also studied under Lier as well as Baisch in Munich from 1859 to 1871. Upon returning to the United States in 1871, he moved to Baltimore, Maryland.  Known as a landscape painter, he was a member of the Charcoal Club which was established in 1883 in Baltimore.  He won a medal both years he exhibited work in the Cincinnati Industrial Exposition in 1870 and 1872.
