Mary Anne McCarley

Mary Anne McCarley (1942-2009) was born in Charlotte, but grew up in Asheville, North Carolina. A painter, she has studied her art in many areas of the United States, as well as abroad in Italy, in the towns of Pietra, and Antigoni. Her painting style incorporates elements of realism and Orientalist embellishments. She was the founding chairperson of the original Civic Arts Center in Asheville, and was appointed to the first North Carolina Art Council.
