Richard Jolley

Richard Jolley (1952- ) was born in Wichita, Kansas. Jolley's glasswork deals with the human figure, primarily busts. His subjects are often depicted with mouth opened, frozen in mid-motion. His elongated, turning figures are reminiscent of the paintings of Thomas Hart Benton who painted the rural people of his home state, Missouri. Jolley's figures are more urban and more modern, but like Benton, he accords these figures a certain respect while depicting their quirks.
