Anne Lemanski joins Cindy Buckner, associate curator, for a discussion of the role animals play in her work, including two sculptures on view in A Telling Instinct. Lemanski is a full-time studio artist residing in WNC, with roots that stem from Detroit and Chicago. She was a resident artist at Charlotte’s McColl Center for Art + Innovation and the Penland School of Crafts. Her work is in the permanent collections of the US State Department; Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, AR; Mint Museum of Craft + Design in Charlotte; North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh; Asheville Art Museum; as well as corporate and private collections. Her work has been featured in numerous magazines and blogs, and exhibited nationally in museums and galleries. She is the recipient of the 2010–2011 North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship.
