Opening Reception + Gallery Talk with Martha Severens

Please join us for a special gallery talk with Martha Severens and an opening reception for From New York to Nebo: The Artistic Journey of Eugene Thomason. Severens is a distinguished author, curator and scholar. Her career includes serving as curator at the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, the Portland Museum of Art in ME and the Greenville County Museum of Art in SC. She received her MA from Johns Hopkins University and has written numerous studies on a variety of Southeastern artists including Charles Fraser, Alice Ravenel Huger Smith, William Halsey and Mary Whyte. Her most recent book, From New York to Nebo: The Artistic Journey of Eugene Thomason, was published by The Johnson Collection in association with University of South Carolina Press. Following the talk, the Museum is hosting a reception until 5:00 p.m.
