Every Third Thursday the Museum comes alive with an evening filled with music, tours, art making and more! Join us for an eclectic evening featuring live music with Asian Soundscapes, our Discovering Art in Asheville public tour and special cocktails at the Museum’s Perspective Café.

Third Thursday Features

Live Music: Asian Soundscapes—Directed by virtuoso Chinese-American pipa player, singer, and composer Min Xiao-Fen, enjoy an immersive experience where ancient strings resonate with the rhythms of the modern era. Joining her are Mari Ohta, a sensational Japanese-American koto player, and Thom Nguyen, a Vietnamese-American percussionist and sonic sculpture artist. Together, they blend the rich heritage of Asian music with the pulsating rhythms of the modern world. Their music takes you on a journey through time and culture, marked by a unique blend of improvisation and structured harmony.

Film: “Exposing Muybridge” is a documentary that dives into the life and work of Eadweard Muybridge, a pioneering photographer and early filmmaker known for his groundbreaking motion studies. The film explores his innovative techniques, personal controversies, and enduring impact on both photography and cinema. Through expert interviews and rare archival footage, “Exposing Muybridge” reveals the complex legacy of a man who forever changed the way we see cinema.
