Barbara Wasserman (1934 - ) is an artist, teacher, jewelry designer and scenic designer. She earned her BA in Art Education at Hofstra University and her MA in Art Education at New York University. Wasserman was influenced by folk art and the 20 years that she spent living in Mexico. She now describes herself as an abstract expressionist who moved toward figurative painting, parrticularly of women. She sees women as "very complex creatures", which is reflected in her paintings. She has been widely exhibited in Florida, New York and Mexico, and she is included in the collections of the Museum of the University of Texas in Austin, the Boca Raton Museum of Art and the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art.
