Policies & Conditions* I have read and understand these policies for photography at the Museum, and I agree to abide by them.
GENERAL
1. Food and drink are not permitted in the Museum’s galleries.
2. Live plants, smoking, open flames, fog machines, glitter, confetti, streamers, balloons, and/or drones are not permitted anywhere inside the Museum building.
3. Open flames are not permitted on the Museum’s grounds.
4. Photographers, cast, and crews must be accompanied by a Museum staff member at all times. Please do not ask Museum staff or visitors to participate as models or stand-ins.
5. Cast and crew must not touch, lean on, place something on, or move artworks, pedestals, or walls. Artwork will not be moved to accommodate photography unless specifically approved in advance.
6. The Museum reserves the right to review photography before publication. If a publication is produced using images from the session at the Museum, two gratis copies are to be sent to the Museum for archival purposes. The Museum should also be cited as the location where the image was made when possible.
7. Images of artworks or the Museum building or grounds may not be used to assert or imply that the Museum endorses any commercial product or enterprise, concurs with the opinions expressed in, or confirms the accuracy of any text used with these images.
8. Permission to photograph is granted on a one-time basis. Images acquired while at the Museum may not be used for other purposes without the express written approval of the Museum. Only those approved locations and/or artworks may be photographed.
EQUIPMENT
1. All equipment must be listed in the previous section. The Museum reserves the right to deny entrance of extra items not listed on this form.
2. In general, lighting must be placed a minimum of three (3) feet away from any artwork, pedestal, or wall. Certain artworks may be too fragile for any additional lighting.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
The Museum assumes no responsibility for infraction of copyright laws, invasion of privacy, or improper and/or illegal use that may arise from photography. The applicant agrees to assume full responsibility for the use of images obtained at the Museum and to hold harmless the Museum and its agents against any and all damages or claims arising or resulting from the use of images. It is the responsibility of the applicant (or ultimate publisher of images filmed at the Museum) to secure permission or license for reproduction from the copyright holder or agent, pursuant to current copyright laws, including for any works visible in an image.
DAMAGE & INSURANCE
The Museum may require a certificate of insurance in order to photograph. Requirements for insurance are based on the scope of your request. The certificate of insurance must be on file before photography can occur. The applicant cannot affix, paint, carve, glue, or alter in any way the Museum’s floor, walls, glass, or other surfaces. Furthermore, the applicant assumes responsibility for and will indemnify the Museum for any loss, damage, or expense to the Museum’s Collection, artworks in special exhibitions, loaned artworks, or property that may occur as a result of photography. The applicant agrees to hold the Museum harmless for any and all damages, injuries, and/or losses that may occur while on the Museum’s property.
