What is your favorite part of your job?
Discovering unknown connections between art, artists, and historical events—like an art detective. I enjoy researching the Museum’s Collection and the history of Asheville.
What’s your favorite work in the Collection and why?
The pieces of furniture made by Molly Gregory for Black Mountain College (BMC). Design and craft are already my two favorite areas of art history, and to think about her furniture and the lives it was a part of at BMC help bring that time back to life for me.
What’s your favorite menu item from Perspective Café?
Chocolate chip cookies.
What do you like to do when you’re not at the Museum?
I love to be outdoors on a hike with my husband, listen to music (live or recorded), and watch movies.
Share a fun fact about the Museum that most people don’t know.
The Asheville Art Museum’s first location was at 324 Charlotte Street, where The Preservation Society of Asheville & Buncombe County is located.
