Scott Lowrey (03/13/1961- ) was born in Asheville, NC. He is a painter and a graphic. He teaches art at Mars Hill College. He states: "Generally, the major chords in my prints are explorations and communiqués about the transposition of symbols, the evocation of faith and the temporal nature of life. The minor chords deals with alchemy, duality, revelation and obfuscation." Lowrey has exhibited his work at the Craven County Arts Museum, McNeese State University National Printmaking Invitational, Texas State University Printmaking Invitational and Furman University. Lowrey's work is in several public and corporate collections including the Asheville Art Museum, Indiana University, Furman University, Craven County Arts Museum, American Express, First Federal Bank & Trust, and Western Carolina University. The Asheville Art Museum purchased "Effegy E" in 1985 from the artist's senior year exhibition at the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
