John A. Will (6/30/1939- ) was born in Waterloo, Iowa. He graduated from University of Northern Iowa in 1961 and received his MFA from University of Iowa in 1964. He then studied in Amsterdam at Rijsacadomie Von Beeldende Kunston. He then taught at many universities including the University of Calgary, the University of Wisconsin and Yale University. He has exhibited at the Library of Congress, Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Gallery of Ontario. While his career started with printmaking, he has moved to painting, photography and video. His work primarily deals with topics like mortality, death, politics, religion and spiritual enlightenment.
